Joe is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence.

Tiger King star Joe Exotic has said that he he has been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of cancer.

According to a post on his Instagram page, the diagnosis came following a prostate biopsy.

He had been previously diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this summer, but had been waiting testing to see what stage it was at.

Joe, who is currently serving a 22-year prison term for two counts of hiring to kill Carole Baskin and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act, announced the news by sharing a letter on social media.

It reads: “Everyone, it is with a sad face that I have to tell you the doctors called me in today to break the news that my prostate biopsy came back with an aggressive cancer, I am still waiting on the results from the other test as well.”

Exotic wrote that he doesn’t want “anyone’s pity”, and that he’s sure Carole Baskin will “have her own party over this”.

He then called to be released from prison, and asked the world to be his “voice”.

Joe wrote: “They have the proof that I did not do this and there is no reason for the U.S. Attorney to drag this out so I can go home and get treatment on my own or enjoy what life I have left with my life ones.”

He ended his letter, by asking his followers to “say a prayer” and to “be my voice”.

Joe Exotic was at the centre of the hugely popular Netflix documentary Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness which detailed the convicted felon’s big cat collection as well as his public feud with big cat conservationist Carole Baskin.

A follow-up series titled Tiger King 2 will be released on 17 November.
