WATCH: John Krasinski got the original cast of Hamilton back together for a very special performance

John Krasinski got the original cast of Hamilton back together for a very special performance.

While under quarantine, the actor-director kicked off a special new web series: Some Good News. As the name would suggest, it centres on positive and happy stories amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the first episode, he had a mini-The Office reunion with his former co-star Steve Carell. And as for episode two? He got Lin-Manuel Miranda and the original Broadway cast of Hamilton together (on Zoom, that is) for a special performance of Alexander Hamilton.

Around the 8:30 mark of the episode, Krasinski surprised nine-year-old Aubrey – a massive Hamilton fan who had been meant to see the show live before the Covid-19 restrictions were put in place.

Krasinski and Emily Blunt promised to send Aubrey and her mum to New York to see Hamilton on Broadway once the restrictions were lifted – and had one more surprise in store.

They were joined by Lin-Manuel Miranda – who launched into the opening number from the song, before being joined by Leslie Odom Jr., Phillipa Soo, Jonathan Groff, Renée Elise Goldsberry and the rest of the cast.

“If you can’t go to Hamilton, we’re bringing Hamilton to you,” Krasinski told Aubrey.
