Kate wore a bespoke coat from Alexander McQueen, one of her favourite designers, keeping with the tradition of wearing green as she has been known to do on the official Irish celebration day. The Irish Guards serve in conflicts overseas but they also have ceremonial duties and public posts at landmark locations including the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace. Currently, troops from the battalion are deployed in Kenya, Uganda and Jordan with this marking the start of a busy training period.
