Not great…

It has been reported that Kate Middleton’s family business is struggling.

Party Pieces is owned by Kate’s mum, Carole Middleton, and is a party supplies company that sells costumes, cakes and decorations.

But it has been forced to shed half of its staff amid fears for the future.

Three members of staff were laid off yesterday according to The Sun.

An insider revealed: “There is a terrible air of doom and gloom about the place.”

A web designer, PR agent and Search Engine Optimisation expert have allegedly been chopped, after three warehouse staff were let go before Christmas.

A spokesperson for the company said: “The company’s structure is being reviewed to align with its financial targets, in consultation with staff.”

Carole Middleton set up Party Pieces in 1987, the same year her lovely son was born.

The company website refers to the fact that Caroles three kids, Kate Middleton, Pippa Middleton and James Middleton have all been involved in elements of the business.

“It’s always been a family business and all the children have played a part.”

“James established our personalised photo cakes, Catherine started the 1st birthday side of the business, and Pippa developed the Party Pieces blog.”

Last year, Carole opened up about her reasons for setting up the business, and also about her plans for the future.

“I don’t see myself stopping work. If I did I’d have to have so many projects on. I’d have to redecorate the house. I’d love to travel, but then I’d miss the grandchildren.”

“I’ve got a billion ideas I still want to do.”
