Kelly Clarkson recently opened up about her own personal weight loss journey after undergoing a major transformation this year. She does look happier and healthier, but people looked beyond that and couldn't help but wonder if she was using Ozempic.
The diabetes drug has been hailed as Hollywood's latest obsession when it comes to shedding weight, but celebrities are now being accused of using the drug if they drop the tiniest bit of weight.
Clarkson decided to address the rumours this week and has stressed that she is not taking Ozempic, but she is using a form of medication to help her stay at a healthy weight.
She told viewers of The Kelly Clarkson Show that she was afraid of using Ozempic even though her doctor had suggested it in the past.
She explained that she wanted to lose some weight because she no longer recognised herself, especially after spotting herself on TV one day.
The Breakaway singer admitted: "My doctor chased me for like two years and I was like, ‘No, I’m afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems'.
"Everybody thinks it Ozempic. It’s not," she stressed.
Clarkson did not confirm what she was taking to aid her weight loss, but confessed that she was taking something.
"It’s something else but it’s something that aids in helping break down the sugar—obviously my body doesn’t do it right. I ended up having to do that because my blood work got so bad," the singer shared.
Clarkson said there was one moment that really pushed her to lose weight.
She said she was watching TV with some close friends when she spotted herself on the screen.
However, she barely recognised the woman looking back at her.
She said: "We were in my house in New York like watching and then all of a sudden I paused and I was like, ‘Who the f**k is that?’
"I swear to god, it sounds insane," she admitted.
Even Clarkson's manager was surprised and said she was just as shocked as Clarkson was
"And I think because your people are with you the whole time, so it’s gradual. You don’t even realize," Clarkson said.
She admitted she was concerned about her health, which was the biggest push for her to lose weight.
Clarkson's honesty is refreshing, but the obsession with celebrities and Ozempic continues to cause concern.
We've become so familiar with it that we now associate all weight loss with the drug.
