“I have chosen to stay on my medication instead of breastfeeding.”

Anyone who has welcomed a baby knows that the old adage – fed is best – is true. The decision to breastfeed or bottle-feed your baby is a personal one, and yet, many feel justified in offering their two cents on how other people take care of their little ones.

One star who knows this only too well is Kelly Osbourne, who shared recently that she was judged for announcing that she will not be breastfeeding her baby.

Kelly and her partner, Slipknot’s Sid Wilson, are expecting their first child together. On a recent episode of Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett-Smith, Willow and Adrienne Banfield-Norris, she shared some of the backlash she received after revealing that the medication she takes to manage her mental health prevents her from breastfeeding.

She said: “I have chosen to stay on my medication instead of breastfeeding and the judgement that I’ve received from my friends and also extended family is wild.”

Kelly shared that she was told she would miss out on a “bonding period” with her baby by her decision not to breastfeed.

“I’m like, ‘Do you not think I know that?'” she said.

She then spoke about how minding her mental health will enable her to be the best parent she can be.

“What kind of mother am I gonna be if I start going backwards, if I start being self-destructive?” she said. “It has to be what’s best for me, what’s gonna be the best for my baby.”

Kelly announced her happy news on Instagram back in May. Sharing a snap of her ultrasound, she wrote, “I know that I have been very quiet these past few months so I thought I would share with you all as to why… I am over the moon to announce that I am going to be a Mumma. To say that I am happy does not quite cut it. I am ecstatic!”
