Kensington Palace explains why Meghan Markle’s assistant private secretary is leaving her job.

It was recently announced that Amy Meghan Markle’s assistant private secretary, Amy Pickerell, is leaving her position.

Amy is the third of Meghan’s royal aides to leave the palace in the space of a few months.

Amy was appointed the position of assistant to Meghan just last year and is set to leave her post this month.

Although Amy was initially planning to stay until the end of the year, the fact that Meghan is due to take maternity leave soon changes things.

A source from Kensington Palace explained why Amy’s departure is imminent, in conversation with Harper’s Bazaar.

“Amy is leaving after the arrival of the baby. The Duchess will be very sad to see her go, but is excited for her as Amy has exciting plans ahead including spending some time abroad.

“Amy had originally planned on staying until at least the end of the year, but with the baby coming it makes sense to help recruit someone now who can pick up when The Duchess returns to her official work.

“They will definitely stay in touch and Amy will be on hand for any advice and help that is needed in the future”.

That’s that so.

As those who follow the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will know, they are expecting their first child very soon with Meghan’s due date reportedly in either late April or early May.

Recent pictures show that she’s positively glowing and it’s definitely an exciting time for the newlyweds.

Although there have been reports of Meghan receiving the name Duchess Difficult from staff working at Kensington Palace, we’re inclined to believe that is just speculation and it’s all just part of the settling in period as the former Suits actress adjusts to the royal way of life.
