Kerry Katona and Brian McFadden were married for two years
Kerry Katona has opened up about her relationship with ex-husband Brian McFadden, with the singer admitting she wishes she had remained friends with him after their split.
Katona and McFadden were married in 2002 and welcomed two daughters together, but ended their marriage after just two years in 2004.
Following the end of their marriage, Katona slated McFadden over his parenting, something she now regrets.
Writing in her column for New magazine, the former singer said she wishes things were different between them.
She praised famous couples for co-parenting and remaining friends, something she wishes she could've done with the Irish singer.
"I was sad to read about Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson’s split. I thought they made a nice couple. It’s amazing how Chris and his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, have managed to co-parent their kids and stay friends. I take my hat off to anyone who can do that."
Katona continued: "I wish Brian and I could have stayed friends."
Speaking about their daughter Molly, Kerry said she has a great relationship with her dad.
"Molly went to watch him at a festival last week, and I would have loved to have gone with her. Brian’s fiancée is lovely, and they’ve got a gorgeous little one. It would be great to have a better relationship."
The comment comes after Brian married his new wife Danielle Parkinson.
The Irish singer was also previously married to Vogue Williams, but they ended their marriage in 2017.
Kerry Katona married Brian McFadden in a beautiful ceremony in Rathfeigh, Meath.
The pair share two grown-up daughters - 23-year-old Molly and 22-year-old Lilly.
