Lea Michele Reveals Touching Last Conversation With Cory Monteith

Heartbreaking tribute to tragic star

Glee star Lea Michele has revealed the last words said to her by boyfriend Cory Monteith prior to his tragic death.

Speaking at a listening party for her upcoming solo album Louder, the actress admitted that track If You Say So is based on the last conversation she had with her Glee co-star, who died of a heroin overdose at a Vancouver hotel last June.

“It’s been seven whole days without your embrace, I wanna see your face, I’ve got some things to say. It’s just a week ago, you said I love you girl. I said I love you more. And a breath, a pause, you said, if you say so,” she sings.

“I can’t believe it’s true, I keep looking for you, I check my phone and wait to hear from you, and now I never know if all I’ve been told is just a lie so bold. I thought that we’d grow old. Mirrors in the smoke, left me here to choke.”

The singer, who plays Rachel Berry in the hit series, also revealed that Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks has been a tower of strength in the aftermath of the 31-year-old’s death.

“There were people who were like, ‘I am not f—ing leaving your side, and that, for me, was Stevie. She’s like a fairy. She’s given me so many gifts along the way, and when I say gifts, I mean tools and advice and support,” she explained.

“She told me from the beginning that music is going to be [my] therapy, and at the time, I was like, ‘What the f–k are you talking about, Stevie Nicks? I don’t want to listen to music. I can’t do anything. But once you get out a little bit of the tunnel, when you slowly start to feel like you can be yourself a little bit, it does help. It’s so cool I have her number.”
