Lindsay Lohan returns to acting in new Netflix Christmas romcom

Netflix announced the casting yesterday.

Lindsay Lohan is expected to make her acting comeback in a Netflix Christmas film, and it already sounds magical.

Netflix shared news of the casting on their official Twitter account earlier today, as well as a brief synopsis.

The streaming platform wrote: “Lindsay Lohan will star in a new romantic comedy about a newly engaged and spoiled heiress who finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter after getting total amnesia in a skiing accident.”

Shooting of the project will begin this November, though an official title and release date have yet to be announced.

If Netflix’s past Christmas films are anything to go by, however, we’re in for a treat. In fact, the project’s producer also brought us the A Christmas Prince films, Operation Christmas Drop and The Princess Switch films.

In any case, we’re eager to see the Mean Girls actress return to our screens.

Over the last few years, Lindsay has only appeared in a few feature films. Her latest film, Among the Shadows, saw the actress play a vampire, though the movie received very little critical or commercial acclaim.

Before Among the Shadows, Lohan’s last acting role was in the 2013 erotic thriller, The Crayons. The film was largely panned by critics.

Earlier this year, the star hinted at a possible Mean Girls reunion during an appearance on The OG Mama D Podcast.

When asked about a possible sequel, Lindsay said: “Oh, I mean, I know that they’re gonna do something, but I just don’t know exactly what yet.”

She added that it would be “an honour” to be a part of it.

While nothing has been confirmed, we’ll be keeping an eye out for details on a possible Mean Girls sequel, as well as the upcoming Netflix project.
