“We will never forget you my boy.”

Dr Alex George, who appeared on the 2018 edition of Love Island, has paid tribute to his late brother Llŷr with a tattoo in the young man’s handwriting.

Alex’s younger brother passed away in 2020 when he was 19 years-old. Since then, the doctor has been an adamant advocate for tackling the stigma around mental health, and encouraging others to seek help.

In a post on Instagram, Alex shared the new tattoo, which is on his wrist. It is his brother’s name accompanied by a single line image of a wave in the ocean.

He wrote: “Llŷr (…) ‘God of The Sea’. The most beautiful name, it means so much to have it done in his handwriting.

“We will never forget you my boy x.”

Alex has paid tribute to his brother many times in the past. Shortly after his death, the doctor wrote a touching post on Instagram in which he explained all the ways his brother’s memory lives on.

“Yesterday I said goodbye to my little brother Llŷr,” he wrote at the time. “It was the hardest day of my life. Except it wasn’t goodbye. Llŷr, your dream was to become a doctor, you will live that dream. Every patient I see, we will do it together, you and I.”

He continued: “Your favourite passion is cars, every time I am out driving, I know you will be there laughing and smiling with me.

“I love you so much Llŷr, you are always with me, my boy.”

Earlier this year, Alex celebrated what would have been his brother’s 21st birthday with a post on Instagram.

In the caption, he wrote: “‘Above all Llŷr had a good heart, he had an ability to look into your eyes and could feel exactly what you were feeling.”
