“I’ve been waiting a long time for this…”

Love Island’s Marcel and girlfriend Rebecca are expecting their first child together.

The reality TV star and former Blazin’ Squad member announced the happy news over the weekend telling OK! Magazine: “I was in the studio with my headphones on and she tapped me on the shoulder.

“She had loads of pregnancy tests in her hand, just to make doubly sure. It was crazy! It’s my first baby and I’ve been waiting a long time for this, so it’s just mad.”

Rebecca added: “I meant to do a big reveal to Marcel. I wanted to do this big thing, but I was so excited I just ran downstairs and I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh!'”

This happy news comes after Marcel and Rebecca, who have been dating for 14 months, experienced a miscarriage at the beginning of their relationship.

Marcel said that the couple “both felt like we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.” They were preparing to become parents when they discovered they had experienced the miscarriage.

“We both took it really badly,” he said.

“It took a little while for us to get over it, but it did make us stronger because when you go through something like that, it makes you be there for the other person.”

Rebecca added that the experience has made her extra concerned about her pregnancy this time round.

“I still worry, every time I go to the toilet I check,” she said. “[Marcel’s] so protective, every time I get a little cramp he’s like, ‘Are you okay?'”

“You’ve always got the worry,” said Marcel. “Even when we found out she was pregnant this time, we did a 100 tests to make sure.”

Marcel, 33, initially found fame alongside UK group Blazin’ Squad. He later appeared in the 2017 instalment of Love Island where he began a relationship with fellow islander Gabby Allen.

The pair finished runners up to Kem Cetinay and Amber Davis.

Marcel and Rebecca met in 2018 in a nightclub in London. They have plans to wed in the near future.
