Is Sabrina Carpenter returning to acting?

Producer Judy Cramer recently spoke out about the third installment in an interview with Deadline.

She said the film is happening, but no official date has been set for its release.

“It’ll happen when it happens," she stressed.

"Well, we know what we want to do with the movie, and it will happen. And I mean, we brought together this amazing group of movie stars that were all connected through it, and huge friendships evolved."

Rumours have been circulating hinting that popstar Sabrina Carpenter may join the cast.

Cramer shared, "She’d be a goddess or some relation who would look very much like Meryl Streep."

Lead actress Amanda Seyfried recently spoke out about the possibility of a third film and wants one pop star involved in the movie.

In the second film, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, her character Sophie finds out she's pregnant.

There will likely be a new character in the third film - Sophie's daughter and the actress already knows who she wants to star as her child.

Seyfried recently confirmed she would love popstar Sabrina Carpenter to play her daughter in the movie.

She said she is willing to make the dream casting happen.

“If Sabrina Carpenter wants to play my daughter, I’ll make it happen. I’m a big fan," Film Updates reports.

Mamma Mia is one of Seyfried's most iconic roles and one her children are starting to appreciate.

She told People, "My mom showed my daughter, and my daughter is now obsessed, and so she's 7, so she's in second grade, and all her friends are obsessed. So now they're starting to recognize me as Sophie, which is a little weird, but how beautiful."
