Sarah McKenna Barry

Welcome to the world, baby Mia!

Huge congrats are in order this morning for Martin King and Jenny McCarthy, who have welcomed their third grandchild.

The couple’s son Dean and his partner Alison welcomed a baby girl, who they named Mia.

Jenny, who is a photographer, shared the happy news on Instagram late last night.

She posted a beautiful snap of the new arrival, and wrote: “Welcome to the world our adorable little princess.

“Mia arrived today 3 weeks early and has completely melted our hearts already. Her big brother Aaron can’t wait for the cuddles with his new little sister and to our son Dean and his soon to be wife Alison, you are amazing for giving us this little beauty to call our granddaughter.”

Jenny then added: “I already have my camera at the ready.”

Martin re-shared Jenny’s post on his own story and wrote: “And here she is. Our beautiful granddaughter Mia.”

Mia is Jenny and Martin’s third grandchild. As Jenny, mentioned, they’re grandparents to Dean’s older son Aaron, who is 10, and to Sophia, who is the daughter of their son James. Sophia was born during the Covid-19 pandemic in April 2020.

The arrival of baby Mia must be a highlight for Jenny and Martin after they underwent a difficult few months earlier this year.

Jenny became unwell at the start of the year as her brain tumour returned, and had to undergo surgery. Afterwards, she suffered some bad head, back and neck pain, but appeared to be on the road to recovery.

After her surgery, she took to her Instagram page and wrote: “And just like that, Professor Ciarán Bolger decided to let me home to relax. I’ve never been so grateful, grateful to have the last week behind me.

“It looks great, just one more little test to come back. But for now it’s time to chill out in the couch and start the road to getting Jenny back to where she actually belongs.”
