Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s statement comes after Donald Trump took to Twitter to criticise the couple.

Yesterday, the President of the United States took to social media to say that the country would not pay for their security protection.

He also spoke of how they were initially believed to be residing in Canada but now, plans have changed.

Trump said that although he is a “great friend and admirer” of Queen Elizabeth, this was his stance on the matter.

“I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

However, Meghan and Harry have since had their say.

Omid Scobie, royal editor at Harper’s Bazaar US, said:

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made”.

Omid followed the extremely succinct statement with this own one-liner, saying:” in other words, thank you next”.

According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex together with their son Archie have moved to Los Angeles. Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland lives there and it’s believed they left Canada just before its borders closed due to the Covid-19 virus.

It’s believed the move was planned for some time and they want to be based in California, where they have set up a new team of staff. Meghan also has a lot of friends in the area and it’s believed this will be their new home for the foreseeable future.
