It’s finally been confirmed – Meghan’s pregnant!

She and Prince Harry are due to welcome their first child in the spring, Kensington Palace announced this morning.

The news brings to an end months of speculation about whether when Harry and Meghan would be having kids.

In their interview with ITV the day they announced their engagement, the prince said that he hoped that they would “start a family in the near future” but added that they’d be taking things one step at a time.

Speaking earlier this year, royal biographer Kate Nicholl said that she believed the couple wanted to waste no time in trying for a baby.

“My sources are saying that Prince Harry, particularly, is very keen to start a family, pretty soon after the royal wedding,” she said.

“He’s made no secret about wanting children.

“I think that moment [for Harry] really kicked in when his brother, Prince William, of course, settled down with Kate Middleton. That has definitely gotten Prince Harry pretty broody.”

This was backed by another source, who told Us Weekly that having children was a “priority” for Meghan and Harry.

“They want to start a family right away – and she’ll start trying as soon as she can,” the source said.

Even Meghan’s dad let slip about his daughter’s plans to become a mum.

“She’s wanted children for a long time,” he told Good Morning Britain in June, a month after the royal couple tied the knot.

“When she met Harry and she spoke about how much she loved him, there’s got to be a child in the making there somewhere soon.”
