So this is why Meghan Markle attended Royal Ascot way before Kate Middleton

Interesting...

June of every year marks one of the most important events in the royal calendar, the Royal Ascot.

Members of the monarchy and invited guests don’ their finest robes and head to the sporting event for a day of glitz and glamour. And yesterday, Tuesday, June 19, Meghan Markle attended her first Royal Ascot as Duchess of Sussex, just one month after she tied the knot to Prince Harry.

And Meghan attending the event actually came as a surprise to many as it took Kate Middleton five years after marrying Prince William to attend the royal outing.

And since everything in Kensington Palace is done quite regimentally, why is there such a stark difference between Meghan’s debut date to Kate’s? Was she not invited?

Well, it actually turns out that it wasn’t a monarchy decision but Kate’s own, personal choice. According to Hello!’s royal correspondent Emily Nash, Kate was actually invited every year since 2011, however, decided not to attend for two reasons. Firstly because she wanted to focus on raising her kids and secondly because Prince William was employed as an air ambulance pilot back then so…  chances are she would have spent a lot of the evening without him if she did attend.

Meghan, on the other hand, had Harry by her side for the evening and hence, the newlyweds couldn’t contain their smiles. Ah, married life seriously suits this pair.
