The royal rule Meghan Markle keeps breaking and fair play to her.

Members of the royal family are required to give speeches at many of the events they attend and usually, they are written by close aides. However, since she officially joined the family, Meghan has been doing things differently and we are just loving her style. Apparently, the former Suits actress insists on writing her own speeches and often spends hours preparing in the days before an event. This behind the scenes fact was revealed in a preview for Meghan’s New Life: The Real Princess Diaries. Omid Scobie is a royal contributor for ABC and as you'll see from the clip below, he noticed that Meghan had handwritten notes with her when she went to give a speech during the royal tour in October. At the engagement, which took place in Fiji, Omid asked a palace aide if Meghan had penned the speech herself and the response was that she had been "up for days" working on it.

It's not exactly a rule but it is the norm for royals to have assistance from aides when writing official speeches of their own and kudos to Meghan for going solo. The 37-year-old is no stranger to public speaking having addressed the United Nations with a speech in 2015 during her role as UN Women's Advocate for Political Participation and Leadership.
