Fair.
Whether we like it or not, many people seem to compare Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.
Sure, we know there are few similarities, but they are both young Duchesses, so it seems as though it can’t be helped.
But apparently, Meghan is making a very conscious effort to avoid these comparisons.
The former actress has been deliberately avoiding copying Kate Middleton’s style, and a mark of respect to her sister-in-law.
Pretty sound of her, especially when you consider all the rules and protocols that go into dressing like a royal.
We imagine it can be rather tricky to differentiate yourself, under those circumstances.
The goal here was to ensure that Meghan Markle had her own unique style, while taking inspiration from royal tradition.
An insider revealed to Elle that Meghan’s stylist “has certainly kept an eye on Kate’s style because she hasn’t put a foot wrong and is a great role model”.
So yes, there is inspiration drawn from Kate Middleton, but no copycat scenario is present.
Since Meghan became a member of the family, she has opted for more muted tones, like dark shades of green and blue.
However, Kate has always been a fan of a pop of colour, and is no stranger to donning an all-red ensemble.
The pair also have their own favourite designers – both different.
Kate is a major fan of Alexander McQueen, wearing the brand more often than not.
Meghan, on the other hand, has been a massive fan of Stella McCartney and Givenchy in recent months.
