Meghan Markle’s on-screen dad on the code used to talk about Harry on set

Meghan Markle's on-screen Suits dad Wendall Pierce has shared what he told her on their last day on set together - as he admitted they used to talk about Prince Harry in code on set. The actor, who plays the high-powered attorney Robert Zane on the legal drama, also told how he knew about the actress' relationship with the member of the royal family as it was developing. He told Harry Connick Jr. on his talk show Harry: 

“She met this nice guy and we always talked about him in code really. You know, ‘How you doing?’ ‘Oh, I’m going to London, coming from London, whatever.'”.

Following the news of her engagement, it was announced that the 36-year-old actress would be soon be exiting the legal drama. And her on-screen dad revealed that the pair had a "really wonderful moment" towards the end of her time playing Rachel Zane. He explained:

“I had a really wonderful moment as we were coming to an end of her time on the show. “It was just she and I in the room and I said, ‘I know your life is going to change but always know, no matter where you are, I will always be your loving fake father.'

It comes as the news of both Meghan and Patrick J. Adams' exit from Suits was announced - and the new partner at Pearson Specter Litt was revealed. Former Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has signed on to play Samantha Wheeler, a talented new partner at the firm - and who "will either become their greatest ally or most powerful enemy". The actress said at the news:

“Joining Suits was the perfect organic way to not only collaborate with an EP I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of. “I have watched Suits from the very beginning and feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family.”
