Meryl Streep just met Anna Wintour in the most iconic interview EVER

Girl boss goals.

Two of our icons discussing film, investigative journalism and the feminist agenda in five minutes equals the GREATEST five minutes.

First of all, Anna Wintour has basically just confirmed that Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada, which was played by Meryl Street was in fact about her. In the interview, Anna asks Meryl what role did she find most difficult to play in her acting career, to which the actress replies “Oh, I should say-” but Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna quickly stops her saying: “No, no! We’re not going there”.

The two have a laugh and a giggle before discussing the current state of the world we live in. Between solving the difference between journalism and fake news and often risking a “great deal to tell the truth”, Meryl believes “the key is in knowing when we are being lied to and worse, when we are being diverted in looking in a direction in which we might learn something,” she said in discussing the Muller investigation which sparked huge recent controversy.

In other recent controversy, the legendary pair discuss Harvey Weinstein and sexual harassment stating that women are now more powerful than ever and “this moment is absolutely trilling, this is a door that will not be closed, we got our foot in there, and it will be very difficult for people to conduct their lives the way they have in the past, ‘oh that’s just locker room talk, oh that’s just the way men are’, no… it’s not”.

Meryl also added that she believes this years award season will be “more aware” in light of the past two months.

Finishing up the interview, Anna Wintour hands over the latest addition of Vogue in which Meryl graces the cover. She looks overjoyed and says: “Thank you, how wonderful. I wish my mother was alive to see it.”

Ah, these two. Our only wish was that the interview was longer. You can watch it all here.
