Michael Douglas Thanks Wife Catherine During Emmy Awards Acceptance

Michael Douglas was awarded with Outstanding Lead Actor at last night's Emmy Awards for his role as the ostentatious singer, Liberace, in Steven Soderbergh's Behind The Candelabra.

Upon accepting his award Douglas gave a witty speech in which he thanked fellow nominee and co-star, Matt Damon and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones. 

Last month the Hollywood couple announced their split, stating they were taking time apart to evaluate their marriage.  

Catherine did not accompany Douglas to the awards ceremony, but the 68-year-old, who was seen wearing his wedding ring, thanked her for "her support."

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight backstage the actor said: "Everybody is fine. Nothing really more to say. We were just taking a little break. We're talking. I think everything will be fine and I'm very hopeful." 

Douglas also paid tribute to his eldest son, Cameron, who he hopes to see him soon. 34-year-old Cameron is in a US jail on drug related charges and has been in solitary confinement for the last year.
