Miley Cyrus takes break from Cody Simpson to 'focus on herself'
Miley Cyrus has taken a break from Cody Simpson to "focus on herself."
The US singer and Australian singer had been dating for a few months following Miley's split from husband Liam Hemsworth and later from girlfriend Caitlyn Carter.
A source told Radar Online that the pair had decided to take a break, but that they still wanted to remain friends.
"They are taking a break, but want to remain friends," the insider said, as mentioned above. “She said she just needs to focus on herself.”
This comes after Cody said that things were going swimmingly between himself and the 26-year-old.
Last month, he told PEOPLE that he and Miley were "very, very happy."
“I’m very happy. We are very, very happy," he said.
“She’s creative. She’s very passionate about what she does, and I’m very similar in that sense. That’s why we get along so well.
“We just have a ball, yeah, and that’s the most important part of a relationship, you know?"
Cody added that his relationship with Miley had been special because they had been friends first.
The 22-year-old said that they had "found each other again" when they were in a space where they were "both not partying, working real hard, and it just keeps things healthy and it’s good.”
“Any girlfriends I’ve had in the past has always been immediate romance and so it’s a different experience having been friends with somebody before and it developing naturally into something more.”
Miley announced her split from husband Liam Hemsworth earlier this year.
They filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.
