Actress Geraldine McEwan, who was best known for her role as Miss Marple in the hit ITV show, has died at the age of 82.
The actress’ children Greg and Jane confirmed that the Bafta winning actress died peacefully at Charing Cross Hospital on Friday, three months after suffering from a stroke:
“Following a stroke at the end of October and a period in hospital, Geraldine McEwan passed away peacefully on January 30.
“Her family would like to thank the staff at Charing Cross Hospital who cared for her incredibly well.”
McEwan, played the role of detective Jane Marple in 12 ITV films from 2004-2008.
As well as starring as the spinster detective Miss Marple Mc Ewan appeared in box-office hits such as Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves in 1991 alongside Kevin Costner.
