“Our growing family will be a family of four later this fall!”

Actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband Justin Mikita have announced that they are expecting their second child together.

Ferguson, who played Mitch Pritchett in the hugely popular comedy series, announced the news on social media.

In a video on Instagram, he said: “We are expanding our family. Beckett’s going to be a sibling this fall.”

The caption for the video reads: “@Justinmikita and I have some exciting news, we’re expecting number 2! Our growing family will be a family of four later this fall!! We are so excited for Beckett to have a sibling.”

Jesse and Justin have been together for many years, and they tied the knot in New York in 2013. In July 2020, they welcomed their first child, a boy named Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita.

While announcing the news, Jesse also spoke about gun violence in the US, and made reference to the recent shooting in Uvalde, Texas last week in which a gunman killed 19 children and two adults. He also drew attention to the restrictive abortion laws that are being introduced in various states, as well the battle for LGBTQ+ rights across the country.

Jesse wrote: “Like the majority of people in this country right now, we are heartbroken at the attacks all over the country — from senseless gun violence to state by state attacks on our transgender family and an onslaught of attacks on women’s reproductive health.”

He then announced that he is partnering with an LA based beauty business to raise money for the ACLU, the National Abortion Federation and Everytown for Gun Safety.

Jesse was met with messages of congratulations from many of his fellow actors.

Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba wrote: “Love absolutely everything about this @jessetyler well WELL DONE. Congratulations!!!!!”
