She’s breaking records.

Mona McSharry has made yet another Irish record in her 200m breaststroke heat at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Abu Dhabi.

The Olympian took home the bronze medal yesterday after she placed third in heat in a time of 2:21:59, breaking her record by three seconds, making this her personal best.

She also broke the previous record held by teammate Niamh Coyne.

This record is now the seventh new Irish Senior Record the swimmer has set at the Championships, with Mona now holding eight Irish Senior Records across the long course and short course pools.

Mona managed to qualify in seventh place overall throughout the heats, with Niamh placing in 14th in Heat 2.

Mona has also broken an Irish record in the 50m Breaststroke final last week, qualifying for Friday’s final in a time of 29.65 seconds, and heading to the finals as the third fastest overall.
