The Irish Daily Star reports that Sinead is claiming Noel popped the question during a festival in Amsterdam however, she stresses that she’s the only one who actually remembers the incident because Noel was “off his face” at the time.

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer revealed this little bit of gossip during an interview with the music magazine Uncut. The question was posed by Noel’s estranged brother Liam, who was conducting the interview.

“You’ve always been effortlessly cool. How do you manage that?” asked Liam.

“I’ve never see myself as cool, but I’m flattered,” Sinead responded.

“Actually Liam’s brother Noel once asked me to marry him, just before he married Meg Mathews. He won’t remember, as he was off his face at a festival in Amsterdam,” she added.

Sinead also said that she hopes Liam and Noel can sort out their differences and start talking to each other again soon, solely for the sake of their Irish mammy Peggy.

“Their poor mammy must be very upset,” she said.
