Another notch in the Irish actress’ belt.

Bridgerton actress Nicola Coughlan’s star continues to rise following the latest casting news.

Nicola, who hails from Galway, has landed a new role in a Channel 4 series, which has the working title Big Mood.

In it, Nicola will star opposite Lydia West, who some viewers will recognise from the hit series It’s A Sin.

According to Channel 4, the series is a “vivacious and rebellious portrayal of female friendship when infiltrated by the complexities of a serious mental illness”.

In Big Mood, Nicola and Lydia play best friends Maggie and Eddie who have spend the past 10 years living in “each other’s pockets”, as they navigate life’s complexities.

However, when Maggie’s bipolar disorder returns, Eddie begins to worry about their friendship, and questions if it’s still in their best interests.

The synopsis from Channel 4 reads: “It’s a pivotal point in both their lives, bringing to the surface those all-important questions – could sleeping with your former history teacher be the key to happiness? Is a basement rat hotel a functional alternative to pest control? How do you stop your new psychiatrist giving you worry dolls?

“With their twenties behind them, Maggie and Eddie’s relationship faces the future – can it survive?”

Ahead of the project, Nicola said that working with Camilla Whitehill, Big Mood’s writer is a “dream”.

“I can’t wait to make this show with this amazing group of people,” she said.
