Nicola Coughlan reminisces about working in Spar as she takes it all in at Met Gala

Nicola Coughlan headed to the Met Gala last night and with her first one ever under her belt, there was one thing she just couldn't stop thinking about - one of her first ever jobs. The Derry Girls star headed to the star studded New York event alongside her Bridgerton co-stars, wearing a Richard Quinn ball gown that seemed to have taken a lot of inspiration from her character on the show. While getting ready for the event, the Galway native shared a video of her getting glammed up, showing fans a sneak peek at what she would be wearing ahead of the red carpet. Posting a second clop, she could be seen enjoying the music with Lizzo and Anderson Paak dancing to Lenny Kravitz, with the caption: "Good at times like this to remember I used to work in a Spar." It doesn't get more humbling than that. Nicola revealed recently that she and another Met Gala icon have become "best friends" recently as they have been texting back and forth for months. She revealed she's been DM-ing back and forth with superstar Kim Kardashian, who's apparently a massive fan of Bridgerton. Speaking to Bustle, Nicola said: "I woke up one morning [in 2021] and had a DM from Kim Kardashian. I was like, “What is going on?” So weird! We talked about Bridgerton." She said that the pair have kept in touch ever since - with Nicola even offering her some words of advice before her big night as host on Saturday Night Live. "I messaged Kim to say, 'You’re gonna do great!' And she said, 'Thanks, I’m really nervous'. I told her, 'No, you’re gonna kill it'. "She’s so nice. I’d heard that about her from lots of different people, and I can attest to it now." The 35-year-old added: "Well, now I’m, like, best friends with Kim Kardashian!"
