An video of Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa making a joke about loving his role on the show because it allowed him to “rape beautiful women” has gone viral.

The clip of the Justice League actor resurfaced after a number of recent discussions of sexual harassment by men in Hollywood.

The footage was shared on Twitter on October 9 by a user named @peeanofreek, who wrote:

“Tonight i saw a disgusting clip of jason momoa making a rape joke and i am absolutely repulsed.”

The video, taken from a San Diego Comic Con panel in 2011, shows Momoa joking that he loved his role as Khal Drogo on the HBO series because he got to “rape beautiful women”.

He says in the clip:

“But as far as sci-fi/fantasy, I love that genre.

“There’s so many things you can do, like rip someone’s tongue out of their throat and get away with it… rape a beautiful woman, you know?”

The audience burst into laughter while his co-stars on the panel looked uncomfortable, or held their heads in their hands.

As the laughter continued, the Justice League star said:

“Next question?”

He then quickly used his jacked to cover his face from the camera.

Social media users were quick to react with disappointment after seeing the footage.

Discussion soon turned to the reaction of the audience, as well as Momoa’s fellow cast members.

It comes as Momoa’s co star in the upcoming Justice League film, Ben Affleck, admitted he “acted inappropriately” and apologised to One Tree Hill’s Hilarie Burton.

The actress spoke out this week about a 2003 incident where the actor grouped her on live TV.
