Megan Barton-Hanson reportedly made £800k a month on OnlyFans.

Former Love Island contestant Megan Barton-Hanson has hit out at OnlyFans for their “unfair” decision to ban explicit content from their site from October.

Since her stint on ITV’s Love Island in 2018, Megan Barton-Hanson, 27, has moved away from reality TV and has been making money on OnlyFans where subscribers pay monthly subscriptions to content creators.

Barton-Hanson reportedly makes around £800k a month from the content she produces.

Barton-Hanson told Vice: “I am disappointed Only Fans have decided to remove all sexually explicit videos.

“It used to be a beacon of hope in my eyes and I thought that stigma around sex work would be diminished but now it feels like we are back at square one. Sex workers have always been treated unfairly and this is another example of that.”

She continued: “I am worried about those content creators who will be affected,” she said. “It seems so unfair. OnlyFans has been a really safe way for people to sell their images and earn money from home. During the pandemic, this has been a lifeline for so many.”

On Friday OnlyFans announced that it would no longer tolerate explicit content from next month. The ban came soon after the platform faced pressure from existing investors and concerns were raised about some of the content.

In a statement, OnlyFans said: “OnlyFans will prohibit the posting of any content containing sexually explicit conduct.

“In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines.”
