It may be heading into its 11th season on air, but medial drama Grey’s Anatomy is still going from strength to strength – and now producers have added an Oscar-winning actress to the cast.
It has emerged that Geena Davis is set to feature in a long-running arc of the upcoming season.
Davis, who starred in another ABC series, Commander in Chief in 2005/2006, is set to play a new surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial.
Shonda Rhimes, creator of Grey’s Anatomy, told The Hollywood Reporter that the upcoming season would be heavily centred around Meredith, saying: “It’s really a Meredith-centric season. There’s a lot of growth. She’s lost her person. Her sister has showed up. Her husband is chafing to go someplace else. She’s got all these things going on. … But for me right now, it feels like it’s Meredith. I’m feeling her more acutely because she’s lost her person.”
