It seems not everyone was blown away by the first of The X Factor’s live shows over the weekend.
Lauren Platt, the youngest of this year’s contestants aged just 17, gave a fantastic performance of Pharrell’s monster hit, Happy.
One of the show’s standout moments, Platt’s rendition sampled Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrops’ throughout the first half of the track, an arrangement that earned mentor Cheryl high praise form the other judges.
Yesterday, Grammy Award winning songstress Foxes took to her Twitter account to call-out the Girls mentor for her “smart choice” and point out the striking similarities between Platt’s version and her Radio One Live Lounge cover in March.
Smart choice @cherylOfficial @TheXfactor @simoncowell to mash up Happy and Teardrop wish I’d thought of that…

“Oh wait, i did…In March (@BBCR1 #LiveLounge)”, the singer wrote and accompanied the second tweet with a video footage.
Cheryl is yet to make any response to the tweets.
