Meghan Markle flew to New York last month to celebrate at the Mark Hotel in the Upper East Side with friends including Amal Clooney and Serena Williams last month. The mum-to-be and her guests enjoyed flower arranging and a meal prepared by a celebrity chef. The whole thing looked very lavish and appears to have raised a few eyebrows with her in-laws back in the UK. According to UsWeekly, palace officials told Meghan that this wasn't the done thing. "Meghan is still struggling with the press in London," a source said. "She was made aware that Kensington Palace and the royal family, that’s not the way they do it with a big, flashy baby shower like the one she had in NYC." She wasn't scolded over the party, the source added, but rather told that it wasn't the norm. It comes after a former spokesperson for the Queen last week said that the baby shower had been "over the top". "Baby showers, it’s very much an American thing. "We don’t do it here in the UK. It was a bit over the top in terms of expense and the way she got there.”
