The Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty shocked fans by announcing the end of his marriage to Cat Deeley this week.
The presenters issued the news in a joint statement earlier this week, but insiders have confirmed their marriage ended some time ago.
According to reports, the famous couple has been separated since March.
A source told The Sun that Kielty and Deeley have been living separate lives for months.
"Everyone knew the marriage was over in March. They were living separate lives, and it was very clear when she didn’t go to his mother’s funeral that month.
"She’d been living in England to work on This Morning, and he was back in Ireland – they only spent time together for the kids.
"It’s a huge shock as everyone saw them as one of the most normal and down-to-earth couples in show business, and there were no major signs that anything was seriously wrong for some time."
The couple lived in London with their two sons before their split.
Kielty had been splitting his time between London and Dublin since landing the Late Late Show gig.
Kielty previously admitted that he didn't feel at home in London.
He told the Mid-Point podcast in July 2023:
"For me, London is not home. It will never really be home for me. In my head, I still live in a little village in County Down, even though I haven't lived there full time for 30 years. These are the tricks you play on yourself.
Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley first met when they hosted Fame Academy together in 2002.
They tied the knot in a ceremony in Rome in September 2012.
Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley have two sons together, Milo and James. Their first child was born in January 2016, and their second in June 2018.
