Taking to Instagram, the 32-year-old Dubliner said the June celebration was “the best day of my life”. The star wore a custom-made dress by Irish designer, Paul Costelloe, who has now revealed the dress took just seven days to create.

Speaking on creating the dress for Vogue, the designer said:

“She was, as always, a joy to work with. The dress was completed in just 7 days so as to accommodate her fast growing baby bump, so it was a full team effort. She’s a beautiful woman, a credit to her generation and to Ireland. @spencermatthews you’re a lucky man.”

Paul also shared sketches from the creation of the dress on his Instagram account and although the dress was made against the clock, it has received an incredible reaction for its simplistic and elegant design.

The couple are having their first child – a boy – next month and married two months ago at his family’s 30,000-acre Glen Affric Estate in Scotland.

Hello! – which had exclusive access on the day – reports that they made their union official in front of just a handful of immediate family. It added: “It was a simple and intimate outdoor ceremony that has been kept a closely-guarded secret until now.”

The groom told the magazine afterwards: “It has gone down by many as the best wedding they’ve ever been to.

“It was a family affair in the middle of nowhere and it felt very secluded. We were surrounded by the people we love.”
