Philip Schofield has taken to Instagram this morning to speak about his sexuality.

In a lengthy statement shared to his Instagram story the This Morning host wrote:

“With the strength and support of my wife and daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay.”

Continuing he wrote:

“This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home. I have been married to Steph for nearly 27 years and we have two beautiful grown-up daughters, Molly and Ruby.

“Today, quite rightly, being gay is a reason to celebrate and be proud. Yes, I am feeling pain and confusion, but that only comes from the hurt I am causing to my family.”

Philip also thanked his co-host, Holly Willoughby who has left him sob “on her shoulder” during this difficult time.

The 57-year-old has been married to Stephanie Lowe for 27 years and the pair have two daughters, Molly (27) and Ruby (24).
