Rumours that these two are a couple have been circulating for several months now.

Musician Phoebe Bridgers has described Irish actor Paul Mescal as “the sweetest” and “the best” after months of speculation that the two are an item.

Rumours that the American musician was dating the Normal People star began in July 2020, after a Cork restaurant reported that they had dined together there.

Months later, Mescal and Bridgers were photographed at the Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire.

Since then, neither Paul nor Phoebe have confirmed or denied the rumours.

However, in a recent interview with Style, Phoebe was asked about her relationship with the actor. In response, she described him as “the sweetest” and “the best”.

The musician didn’t offer any further comment.

Beyond the rare public sightings, Paul and Bridgers do have a history together.

Back in 2019, Paul shared that Phoebe was the artist he listened to the most that year. The actor maintained that her song Funeral enabled him to get into the character of Connell for Normal People.

The Kildare native subsequently appeared in Phoebe’s music video Savior Complex.

Bridgers and Paul also took part in an Instagram Live together in which the former interviewed the latter. Phoebe then went on to describe Mescal as “her internet crush” and a “cute boy”.

Elsewhere, in the interview with Style, the musician discussed her own sexuality. Phoebe, who is bisexual, told the publication that she believes no one is exclusively straight.

“I don’t actually believe that anyone is, like, entirely straight,” she said. “I just don’t believe in straight people! It’s like, how? It’s 2021!”

Additionally, the star spoke positively about her own coming-out experience, describing it as “kind of the opposite of an issue”.

When asked directly about her relationship status, the singer joked that her dog Maxine is “the extent” of her love life.
