Pixie Lott chats about new music and hanging out in Dublin

Laura Holland

Pixie Lott will star as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which comes to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre from June 13th to 18th, 2016.

Just ahead of the show, she took time out of her busy schedule to chat exclusively with us about the show, what she has planned when she gets to Dublin and what’s next for her.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s became increasingly more popular as a story when Truman Capote’s classic tale was brought to life by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film. Pixie told us that the play is closer to the novel than to the movie saying:

“The exciting thing about the production is that it’s based on the original story and how Truman Capote wrote it. The original story is different to the movie. Ours is really true to the story and it’s set in the 40’s, not the 60’s. It’s slightly darker than the movie and more risqué and deals with sexuality.”

“The storyline is about young people going to New York and finding themselves, reinventing themselves and their journey along the way. It’s really exciting and they have loads of costume changes.”

Speaking about coming to Dublin she said:

“I’m there for the whole week and when I don’t have matinees I’m able to just explore and have fun so I’m really looking forward to it. I love all the little Irish pubs where everyone is just singing and dancing. Last time we went to Johnny Foxes and we saw all the Irish dancing and I loved it. We had so much fun so I’d just love to do more of that.”

When asked what’s next for the star Pixie told us about her plans to release new music in the summer:

“I have some new music coming for the summer. We just shot some exciting new videos and I have some collaborations coming up. I’ll have a new album coming too.”

Catch Pixie at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre from June 13th to 18th ,2016.
