Popular TV3 presenter Sybil Mulcahy has confirmed she is set to leave the station after 16 years spent onscreen.

Mother-of-three Sybil, 40, has been a firm fixture on our screens since 1999, when she joined the fledgling station in their news division.

In 2007 she formed part of the lineup for entertainment show Xposé, where she spent two years before moving to co-present The Morning Show with Martin King in 2009. Following her stint on The Morning Show, she moved to panel show Midday.

Mulcahy is set to leave the station next month, after first spending five weeks at the helm of new primetime show Life.

Speaking to The Irish Sun, a TV3 source said: “Sybil is not leaving broadcasting. She just wants to examine all the options before she decides on future TV projects. She is very popular and will be missed in TV3.”

Sybil had spoken recently of her desire to spend more time with her children, aged eight, six and two, saying: “I don’t know how long I am going to be in TV. Am I going to be dong this when I am 50?”

“I don’t know.  I wouldn’t mind being there for the kids when they are in secondary school.  It’s something I’d like to be able to do.”
