The most sentimental gift EVER.

As royal fans may be aware, Kate Middleton's engagement ring previously belonged to Princess Diana and William proposed to his now wife with the beautiful sapphire and diamond band. However, what we didn't know is that Prince Harry actually gave Prince William the ring before he asked Kate to marry him as he thought it would be a fitting choice. This information was previously revealed by Paul Burrell, Diana's former butler, in the 2017 Amazon Prime documentary The Diana Story. Prince William and Prince Harry were aged 15 and 12 respectively when their mother Princess Diana died in a car crash. They visited Kensington Palace after her tragic death so that they could keep some of their mother's most-treasured possessions with William choosing Diana's Cartier watch and Harry deciding on Diana's engagement ring. Paul Burrell explained the reason that Harry gave for choosing the ring and this is what really got to us though for it shows just how young he was when he lost his mum. According to Express, twelve-year-old Harry said:

"I remember when I held mummy's hand when I was a small boy and that ring always hurt me because it was so big".

Years later, Burrell says that Harry suggested that it would be "fitting" if Kate was to wear Diana's engagement ring because it is likely that one day the "ring will be sat on the throne of England" Burell said:

"Harry gave up his precious treasure. The one thing he kept from his mother, he gave to his brother".

Proof that Harry is indeed Prince Charming and now we're all very emotional of a Saturday morning.
