Prince refused to have the Kardashians on his episode of New Girl

Ouch!

Prince may be gone, but he still keeps finding ways to entertain.

Since his passing on April 21st, many people have shared stories about their encounters with Prince, and much like the man himself, many of these tales are nothing short of fascinating. Not to mention a little be hilarious.

Zooey Deschanel is the latest person to share a Prince story, while speaking with Conan O’Brien. She reminisced about his cameo appearance in a 2014 episode of New Girl.

Apparently some of the Kardashians were meant to make an appearance in Prince’s episode. “There was a party scene that was supposed to resemble a party that Prince would really have, but you guys booked some people to be at his party who Prince didn’t think would really be at one of his parties,” Conan asks Zooey.

“I’m not sure exactly how the celebrities were chosen, but someone was friends with some of the Kardashians and had made a phone call, and they had kindly come on to shoot a little cameo part where they were at Prince’s party, which I didn’t really know about because it kept changing,” Deschanel explains.

It looks like at some point in the making of the episode Kris Jenner and Khloe Kardashian filmed cameo party scenes, only to have them removed at the request of Prince’s team.

Apparently the demands were such that New Girl producers had to have a “bonfire”, burning all scripts and call sheets and any other evidence the Kardashians were meant to appear alongside Prince.

Ouch.

“I felt so bad because obviously everyone had gone out of their way to be there on that day, but Prince was running the show,” Deschanel said.

Prince ran the show then, and he continues to run it now. May he RIP.

It’s certainly not the first instance of Prince vetoing sharing space with the Kardashians. The musician famously asked Kim Kardashian to “get off the stage” after she got a case of stage-fright and didn’t dance after getting invited onstage with him during a show in Madison Square Garden back in 2011.

Oh Prince, how we miss you.
