And no, this is not in a selfish way.
Kate Middleton has always been a champion of mental health, but William has issues involving wildlife and nature close to his heart.
William's trip to Africa will involve the ongoing fight against the illegal trade of wildlife. Prince William is the President of United For Wildlife and Tusk Trust, which both protect endangered species in Africa.
A royal expert spoke to OK! Magazine about the solo trip:
“Typically William has always worked solo in his fight against illegal wildlife trade, which is why we wouldn’t see Kate join him on a trip like this or him joining Kate on her own personal projects, such as promoting the importance of perinatal, maternal and children's mental health.”
William will visit African countries Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya when he visits next week.
Kensington Palace tweeted on Thursday:
“The Duke of Cambridge will visit Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya from Monday 24th to Sunday 30th September.
“The private working trip is being made as @United4Wildlife President and @Tusk_org Patron ahead of the 2018 Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference in London #EndWildlifeCrime.”
