Zac Efron was rushed to hospital in Ibiza last weekend

Reports claimed the actor was rushed to hospital after two members of staff found him 'in distress' at his rental accommodation.

His representatives stressed that the hospital visit was 'precautionary' but insiders have since revealed more about the incident.

It is understood that Efron dove into the water but he hit the bottom of the pool and inhaled water into his lungs.

According to TMZ, the actor was in distress following the incident on Friday, August 2nd.

He was released from the hospital on Saturday, August 3rd, and is said to be "doing well".

Efron was reportedly "momentarily dazed" after the dive but did not suffer any major injuries.

He was swimming with his friends in the early hours of the morning when the incident happened.

Onsite security helped the actor out of the water after he showed signs of distress.

The incident comes years after the High School Musical star was injured in a freak accident at his home.

Efron said he was running through his house in his socks when he slipped and injured his jaw.

Speaking about the accident, Efron said his jawbone was hanging off and he was unconscious.

He fell into a fountain and knocked his face off the granite corner.

Efron told Entertainment Tonight: “I don’t really read the internet. It was funny. It sucked. I almost died.”

The 17 Again star said the muscles started to grow following the accident, but he has been undergoing physical therapy to help.

“The masseters just grew. They just got really, really big,” he told Men’s Health.
