Ricky Martin shuts down claims of incest and domestic violence after restraining order

He has denied all claims.

Singer Ricky Martin has denied the "completely false" accusations made against him after a restraining order was placed against him by a family member. Martin's attorney has responded after reports were made that he could see up to 50 years in prison for domestic violence charges filed by his own nephew. His attorney Marty Singer said in a statement to PEOPLE: "Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew. "The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts." Earlier this month a complaint was made under the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act per the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law, but did not disclose who submitted it and Martin strongly denied the allegations. "The allegations against Ricky Martin that lead to a protection order are completely false and fabricated," representatives for the 50 year old told PEOPLE at the time. "We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated." Also earlier in July, police attempted to issue a restraining order in an upscale neighbourhood in Puerto Rico where Martin is from but have yet to be able to find him. The order prevents Martin from contacting the person who made the complaint, who is reported to be his own nephew, and a judge will decide if it should be maintained. According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Martin physically and psychologically assaulted the man during a seven month period. The same outlet reported that Eric Martin, the singer's brother, revealed the petitioner is Ricky's nephew.
