He’s not gone for good.

Rob Kearney may have left the rugby pitch for good after he announced he was retiring from the sport last year but thankfully it’s not the last we’ll see of him on our TV screens.

Clearly, he can’t stay away from rugby for too long as he’s announced that he’s switching the ball for a microphone as he’s got a new hosting gig on the weekends.

Now spending Saturday and Sunday afternoons for a few hours on our TVs, Rob has bagged himself a gig at Virgin Media Television as a new rugby panellist, there’s nobody better suited.

And it won’t be long before we get to see him on the small screen as he’ll kick off the new role by covering the Six Nations matches which begin next weekend.

Grand slam winners Grace Davitt and Jenny Murphy and Irish Rugby international Sene Naoupu will also be joining Rob on the new panel line up.

Speaking about his exciting new role, Rob said: “I am delighted to join the team at Virgin Media Television. The Six Nations is always highly anticipated and played a significant part of my career.

“It will be interesting to play my part off the pitch this time and I am looking forward to seeing what this tournament brings.”

Virgin Media and RTÉ have teamed up for a historic partnership for this year’s Six Nations championship as they’re set to show the matches for free for Irish viewers.
