Ronan O’Gara has admitted that he is overjoyed at being given the opportunity to crown this year’s Rose of Tralee.
According to The Irish Sun this morning the Muster rugby star is a huge fan of the annual competition despite being teased about it by those closest to him.
He told the newspaper: ‘My wife slags me a lot about it but I’d be glued to the Rose of Tralee every year.
‘I’d be very proud of being Irish and it’s nice to see the amusement and the enjoyment so many families get out of the programme.’

Ronan says he watches the competition every year and likes the tradition of it.
This year's competition officially kicked off on Friday with all of the Roses partaking in different events over the weekend.
The winner of this year’s Rose of Tralee will be announced on Tuesday night and it is down to Ronan to hand over the title.
