People are surprised today by the news that Rupert Murdoch and Jerry Hall have announced their engagement.
They made the announcement in the Birth, Deaths and Marriages section of The Times newspaper.
The notice read, “Mr Rupert Murdoch, father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe Murdoch, and Miss Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel Jagger, are delighted to announce their engagement.”

Rupurt, 84, and Jerry, 59, are said to have begun dating less than 6 months ago. The media mogul has previously been married three times, while it will be Jerry’s first marriage.
She was in a long term relationship with Rolling Stones’ frontman, Mick Jagger, for 23 years. They have four children together but have been broken up since 1999.
