Former Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy has penned a moving tribute to his friend Sinéad O’Connor.

Tubridy posted a black and white photo of him and Sinéad to honour the late singer.

Alongside his tribute, he also confirmed he spoke to the singer just days before she passed away.

“Like everyone, I’m devastated by the awful news about Sinead.

“We spoke days ago and she was as kind, powerful, passionate, determined, and decent as ever,” he said.

“This photo is from the night I went with my mum to see her in Vicar St,” he added.

“Rest in peace Sinead, you were ahead of your time and deserve whatever peace comes your way.”

Tubridy is among thousands paying tribute to the beloved singer.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, author Marian Keyes and designer Brendan Courtney have all penned moving tributes.

Sinéad’s family issued a statement shortly after news of her death broke on Wednesday night.

They confirmed she sadly passed away and urged the public to respect their privacy during this harrowing time.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
