It looks like Ryan Tubridy is set to to depart from his prime morning slot on 2FM.

The changes come in the wake of disappointing listenership ratings leading to The John Murray Show being pulled from Radio 1.

Murray anchored his own show on RTE Radio 1 for five years, following Ryan’s departure to 2FM.

Now, in an ironic reversal, it looks like Ryan will return to Radio 1 as he has been tipped as Murray’s possible replacement.

Ray D’Arcy took over Derek Mooney’s Radio 1 slot earlier this year.

The latest JNLR figures saw a jump in 12,000 listeners for Tubridy on 2FM but a drop of 8,000 for The John Murray Show.

Speculation is rife that Ray D’Arcy is also in the running for the prime morning slot after failing to make a mark with his afternoon slot on the station.

D’Arcy took over Derek Mooney’s slot last year and the show has lost 10,000 listeners since.

Nicky Byrne
Nicky currently hosts The Nicky Byrne Show With Jenny Greene at 11am on 2FM.

Nicky Byrne is currently fronting the 2FM afternoon slot alongside Jenny Greene and latest figures showed a listenership rise of 10,000, making the former Westlife singer a favorite to replace Tubs on the prime time morning slot.
